Mir Mahfuz Ur Rahman has been a Partner at Asian Tiger Capital Partners since 2009.  He is also the founder Director of North Star Investments (BD) Limited and founder shareholder of Asian Tiger Asset Management Limited.  He was also the founder Director of Equity Partners Limited in 2000. (see below).

He is an experienced corporate finance advisor in Bangladesh having experience in advising international companies, including Lafarge Cement, Brightstar USA, Aditya Birla Group, Marico Industries, Dabur Group, and Emami Limited, in M&A strategy and execution in Bangladesh.  Domestically, he has executed multiple M&A transactions including Millennium Systems, Service Solutions Limited, Magnum Steel Industries Limited.     

He has also been a part of the IPO and rights issue team, among others, of Lafarge Cement, Advanced Chemical Industries, Rangpur Foundry Limited, Marico Industries, Genex Infosys, Agni Systems, Intraco Refueling, NRB Commercial Bank, Meghna Insurance, Navana Pharma, etc.  He executed the first public offering of preference shares in the DSE.  

Mahfuz was previously the Head of Merchant Banking for Equity Partners, a Bangladesh based merchant bank, where he executed 10 IPOs over 8 years in this country. Prior to that he was an Analyst in Corporate Finance at Lehman Brothers in New York and an Associate with Peregrine Capital in Dhaka.

·         Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh (CRAB), a pioneer in credit rating in Bangladesh;

·         Akij Takaful Life Insurance, a new life insurance company sponsored by Akij Group, the leading business group of the country. 

He has a B. A. degree (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) in economics and international relations from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA, and a M. A. (Distinction) in International Relations and Economics from SAIS, Johns Hopkins University.
